Solar Cooking Demonstration Workshop in Kiribati : The use of solar energy in everyday cooking at a domestic level and in replacing the conventional ways of cooking using firewood in an open fire or on kerosene stoves was demonstrated via this project. SOPAC and the Ferris University (of Japan) implemented the activities in collaboration with the Energy Planning Unit in Kiribati. The main objective of the workshop was to demonstrate the use and applicability of three models of solar cookers, namely the Karu-pika (Parabolic solar Cooker), the Sunoven Cooker and a Hand-Made Cooker (HMC).
