Territorial Sea Baselines

Technical solutions for new territorial sea baseline have been developed by SPC-GSD in December 2005. The Report on the Pacific Islands Regional Maritime Boundaries Information System – Niue Maritime Boundaries Report (TR 377) completed and presented to the Government of Niue in December 2005. In December 2005, Mr Hubert Kalauni, from the Niue Government Department of Justice, Lands and Survey came to SPC-GSD to verify the technical baseline and maritime zones dataset for Niue. A copy of the above report was given to him to take back to the Government of Niue for review and ultimately declaration. Maritime Zones

The baseline was reviewed in 2011 and the outer limits of the maritime zones were declared in the Territorial Sea Outer Limits Notice 2013 No.2013/2B, Contiguous Zone Outer Limits Notice 2013, No.2013/2C, Exclusive Economic Zone Outer Limit Notice 2013.
