Stat of the week: In July 2025, global coconut oil prices peaked at $2,841 per metric tonne
Global coconut oil prices rose sharply in 2025, increasing from $1,978 per metric tonne in January to a peak of $2,841 in July, before gradually easing to $2,323 by December.
This mid-year surge may reflect tighter supply, seasonal production patterns and strong global demand, followed by a stabilisation later in the year as markets adjusted.
For many Pacific economies where coconuts are an important resource, price movements like these can directly influence export earnings and local livelihoods.
