The NOAA Coral Reef Watch (CRW) weekly Four-Month Coral Bleaching Outlook product (version 5.0) was released publicly on March 27, 2018, after being made available on November 21, 2017. This Outlook, updated weekly, utilizes daily sea surface temperature forecasts from NOAA/NCEP's Climate Forecast System Version 2 (CFSv2), a comprehensive ocean-land-atmosphere climate model. Further details on the CFS-based Bleaching Outlook can be found in Eakin et al. (2012) and Liu et al. (2018). The output is probabilistic, showing 60% and 90% chance of the thermal stress occurring. We subset the outlook as shown on the map.
